Measuring of Radon Gas Concentrations in serum samples of Lung cancer patients in Babylon governorate, Iraq

Abstract The current study aims to assess the radon concentration in blood serum of lung cancer patients Babylon governorate and compared measured values healthy people. Radon ( 222 Rn) is one typical alpha-particle emitters. Cancer cases, especially cancer, have been increased a notable way Governorate particularly after gulf wars 1991 2003. So, measuring gas important find out relations between these cases war effect. This has done this work using CR-39 detector measure alpha particles emitted from radon. Thirty samples people (15 each group) were collected. Some are collected oncology center some Imam Al-sadiq hospital. At end exposure time (70 days), track density was calculated by TASLIMAGE system. results showed that mean concentrations for 19.2234 ± 2.15907 Bq/m 3 . Further, concertation with considerably larger than group. Interestingly, results, also, all (whether or people) within acceptable limit (200 ) which designated both International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP) Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
